A split system air conditioner has two separate parts: the outdoor unit which is installed either on or close to the wall of the area you want to keep cool. This outdoor unit includes the compressor, condenser coil and either the expansion coil or capillary tubing.
There is also a separate indoor unit which comprises the cooling coil, the blower and the air filter.
The system works by using the cooling coil to remove warm air from your home and removing it. This allows cooler air to circulate and makes the ambient temperature far more pleasant. When it's cold, it's possible to reverse this cycle and send warm air circulating instead.
Split system air conditioners are often neglected but regular maintenance is vital. The use of refrigerant gases means that this must only be carried out by professionals such as the technicians here at DGB Refrigeration Heating and Cooling.
