Evaporative Air Conditioners

Most people will have seen evaporative air conditioners, even if they don't know what they are called. They are one of the oldest types of cooling systems but they're still one of the most efficient.

Evaporative air conditioners work via a large fan which sits inside a box-shaped unit. This box is porous which allows the air to flow through. The fan draws air from outside into your home, and through the evaporative air con unit. A wet pad at the base of the unit combines with warm air, evaporating the water and cooling the air for circulation.

A buildup of dust and debris can seriously hamper the performance of the unit. In turn, this can affect the moisture balance and allow mildew and mould to grow. To keep your unit performing at its best, and to prevent problems with mould, regular maintenance is essential.
